A modern piano prodigy from China who has taken the world by storm.
Here are some facts about the very accomplished musician:
Lang Lang was brought up in China and at 2 years old heard his first piece of Western music ( Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2. ) after watching a Tom and Jerry episode and at 3 years old decided to start playing the piano. He played his first recital at 5 years old
At 9 years old his tutor stopped lessons with Lang Lang after he was rejected from his application the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music and was told that he “lacked talent”!
He was later accepted into the Conservatory and from the age of 13 started entering competitions and won awards left right and centre. His fame began from here.
His debut concert in 2001 saw him selling out Carnegie Hall and he has sold out the Royal Albert Hall time and time again.
In April 2009, when Time Magazine included Lang in its list of the 100 most influential people.
He has performed on several movie soundtracks including The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and The Painted Veil.
He has collaborated with some of the greatest movie music composers including Hans Zimmer and Alexander Desplat.
His net worth in 2019 was $30 million dollars.
